Grand Teton Lakes
There is a chain of lakes that lie directly at the base of the Grand Teton Mountains. In addition, to the lakes, there is a well established system of hiking trails for you to enjoy also. We choose to hike the trail that leads directly alongside the lakes. It was an awesome hike, suitable for hikers of any experience level. There were minimal hills and lots of places to stop and get some great photos. I would highly recommend that you carry bear spray while on the trails. While we did not see any bears during our hike, we encountered fresh bear scat and park rangers had posted numerous signs along the hiking trail, advising as to the last bear sightings.
The mighty Yellowstone river is one of the most photographed rivers in Yellowstone National Park. The river also offers some of the best trout fishing available in the park as well. The most common species in the river are rainbow, brown and native cutthroat trout. If you are planning to fish inside the park, don't forget to visit one of the visitors centers to purchase your in-park fishing permit. Even if you already have a Wyoming fishing permit you will still need to have a valid Yellowstone National Park fishing permit on your person, anytime you fish within park boundaries.
